Pauline Jaricot
Bishop Charles received letters from his friends in China asking for his help. They told him about the abandoned babies and asked him to help them find the money they needed to look after them. Bishop Charles did not have any money to send them but he knew he had to do something.

He knew of a lady called Pauline Jaricot. She had started a charity to help missionaries spread the Gospel. He thought she could advise him. He met her and explained the problem. She told him that no one could understand what children need better than other children. She advised him to start a children's charity.

That's when he decided to call on the help of the children of France.
