Bangladesh

There are 26 projects in Bangladesh which get funding from Missionary Children. these are in the diocese of Chittagong, Dhaka, Dinajpur, Khulna, Mymensingh and Rajshahi. Seven of these are children's homes and orphanages. The other projects include schools and projects to support poor families.

Cambodia

There is one project in Battambang Diocese, run by the Sisters of Charity, which gets Missionary Children funding. The project looks after orphans and children of poor families.

The Philippines

There are fifty five projects in the Philippines funded by Missionary Children. They are spread over thirty five diocese and include schools, clinics and homes for orphans, street children and the children of poor families.

Japan

There are two projects in Japan which have Missionary Children Funding, both schools. In the current year these have been paid for by Missionary Children in Japan, leaving more money for projects in poorer countries.

India

There are six hundred and thirty one projects being supported by Missionary Children in India. Many of these are projects which deal with orphans and poor children. Some of these are in the areas badly hit by the Tsunami which struck in Boxing Day 2004.

Indonesia

Missionary Children supports forty projects in Indonesia in twenty four diocese. Most of these are schools and educational projects in this mostly Muslim country. There are also clinics and orphanages.

Iraq

There are three projects in Iraq which Missionary Children supports. They are all education projects, supporting Christian schools in a Muslim country.

Israel

There is one project we help fund in Israel. Strangely enough, it is based in Bethlehem. This project run by the Christian Brothers operates in five centres in the occupied zone and caters to 2460 Palestinian children.

Kazakhstan

We support one project in Kazakhstan, a project to assist and feed disabled children and children from poor families. The funding is helping to install electricity and clean water for drinking.

Laos

Missionary Children supports two projects in Laos, one of which brings help to feed and bring medical help to children of the montagnardes tribes people.

Lebanon

Lebanon has a Christian population which makes up thirty nine percent of the people. Missionary Children supports seventeen projects in Lebanon. Ten of these are clinics, distributing medicines and teaching hygiene. The others are educational projects.

Mongolia

There are two projects supported by Missionary Children in Mongolia. One is a clinic to help disabled children and the other is an educational project to help pre-school children of poor families to enable them to take advantage of the school system and reduce the number of drop-outs.

Myanmar (Burmah)

There are forty two projects supported in this country. Most of them are aimed at helping orphans and children of poor families. These mainly belong to tribes that live in lonely mountain areas.

Nepal

There is only one project being supported by Missionary Children in Nepal. It provides religious education for children of families in remote villages who have converted to Christianity.

Pakistan

Pakistan has forty projects supported by Missionary Children. Seventeen are orphanages and clinics. The rest are school projects.

Syria

Missionary Children helps to fund seven projects in Syria. These are all projects which help the religious education of children living in this Muslim country. The Christians make up ten percent of the population.

Sri Lanka

The focus project for 2004 / 2005 is the Jeevanie Children's Home. This is on the South West coast of Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka's coast was devastated by the Tsunami which hit on Boxing Day 2004. At the time of writing this we are not aware of what has happened in Moratuwa where the home is situated.

There are fifty six projects receiving help from Missionary Children in Sri Lanka. Twenty four aim to help orphans, street children and children from poor families by providing homes, clinics and feeding centres. There are now an extra one million homeless people in Sri Lanka to be helped.

Thailand

We support thirty seven projects in Thailand. Fifteen of these provide practical help to children living in slums, provide medicines and food to poor children and help children suffering from leprosy. 

Timor

Seven projects to build schools have just been completed so we are left supporting two projects in Timor. One is the Don Bosco Orphanage and the other is the St. Augustine Catholic School.

Turkey

We support one project in Turkey. The project involves religious education of children and preparing them for the Sacraments. Turkey is a Muslim country and these families are dispersed in the countryside.

Vietnam

There are twenty six projects being supported in Vietnam. These are all educational projects, teaching children from remote tribes and children in poor areas. As well as literacy, the children are taught agricultural skills.
