AngolaMissionary Children supports nine projects in Angola. They are all for supplying asistance and materials to schools and parishes. BeninThirty five projects receive Missionary Children support in Benin. These projects help to improve schools and provide materials for education. They also help to feed and provide medical help for children in poor areas. BotswanaThere are four projects supported in Botswana. Three are educational projects working in remote areas and with AIDS infected children. There is a clinic which also helps with health education. Burkina FasoBurkina Faso has forty projects being funded at the moment. These projects are mainly educational projects which support schools by supplying equipment and books. They also help with building improvements. Some projects are aimed at orphans and abandoned children, with food and medical help included. Burkina Faso has no seaport and goods have to be imported through other countries. Disruption in places like Ivory Coast has recently caused problems of getting goods through to Burkina Faso. BurundiMissionary Children is supporting twenty three projects in Burundi. Burundi has suffered from a civil war and there are many orphans and displaced children. AIDS has also left many children orphaned. The projects are involved in rebuilding schools damaged in fighting and helping children with the education they have missed due to the fighting. They are also feeding and giving medical help to children. CameroonThere are twenty nine projects being supported in Cameroon at the moment. Most of the projects support education, building and repairing schools and sending people into villages in remote areas to help basic education. There are also clinics bringing medicines to remote areas. Central African RepublicWith twenty six projects supported, the Central African Republic has a majority of them helping the welfare of children. Much of this is aimed at feeding and providing medical care for children from poor areas. Orphans, many as a result of AIDS, are looked after. ChadThere are sixteen supported projects in Chad. These are mostly supporting schools by building new classrooms, supplying educational materials and helping AIDS orphans. Republic of CongoMissionary Children supports eleven projects in The Republic of Congo. They deal with a range of problems including the problems of 'boy soldiers' used by rebel groups to fight in the civil war. These children have been traumatised by the events they have witnessed and were a part of. Much of the money is being used to rebuild schools, churches and centres damaged or destroyed in the war. Democratic Republic of CongoThis country has one hundred and three projects supported by Missionary Children. The country has suffered greatly from the recent war and many schools, churches and clinics were damaged. Many of the projects involve repairing the damage and replacing buildings destroyed. The people have suffered from hunger and trauma and projects are attempting to deal with these problems. Clinics are helping to improve the health of the children in the aftermath of the war. Ivory CoastThe children of Ivory Coast have suffered from recent fighting. Missionary Children is supporting twenty five projects which aim to help the children overcome the problems caused. Projects are helping children overcome the problems of missed schooling and are helping to rebuild schools. Health problems are also being addressed, dealing with orphans of the war and AIDS orphans. EgyptThere are eighteen projects being funded in Egypt. These concentrate on contributing to the education and welfare of deprived children. They help with food and medicines and help to provide school materials in Arabic language versions. EthiopiaThere are twenty two projects being funded here presently. One project in Awasa alone is helping nearly nineteen thousand children who suffer from malnutrition. They are providing schools, medicines and care for poor children and orphans. GabonWe are supporting three projects in Gabon. They provide help for children by combating malaria and other parasitic diseases. They are also looking after orphans and abandoned children. GambiaTwo projects in Gambia are being supported. St. Joseph's Cluny Nursery School is being expanded to take more small children before they go to primary school at the age of seven. GhanaGhana has forty six projects being supported by Missionary Children this year. Many projects involve improving or rebuilding schools. Many schools in poor areas are little more than sheds with a dirt floor. The teachers there perform wonders with little in the way of classroom resources. In the Christian Village School, just outside Accra, the floor has collapsed in the top primary class and the wall is sagging. Despite this the children are filled with ambition and a desire to help their people advance to a better life. GuineaMissionary Children helps fund nine projects in Guinea. These projects all involve repairing schools in poor areas and buying educational supplies for these schools. Guinea BissauThere are four projects in this small West African country. They involve buying food and medicines for children in poor schools and also help to buy educational materials. KenyaWe support thirty two projects in Kenya. Some of these are educational projects which involve building and repairing schools or building dormitories where children can stay if their home are a great distance from the school. Other projects are funding clinics to provide medicines and help for poor children. There are also projects which look after abandoned children, many of whom are AIDS orphans. LesothoLesotho is a small country in South Africa. There are six projects here. They help AIDS orphans, handicapped children and children in very poor areas. They are also rebuilding a school. More than six thousand children benefit from these projects. LiberiaLiberia was ravaged by a civil war recently. Many people had to flee the country and many are still living in neighbouring countries. Families were split up and there are many abandoned children. The children missed their education during the fighting. The seven projects we support in Liberia are helping to teach the children to read and write, helping to protect them from disease and reaching out to street children. LibyaOur two projects in Libya are directed at helping the children of families who have fled the war in Sudan. Recent items in the news about Sudan and the events in Darfur, in particular, have shown the dangers these people faced. The projects aim to provide an education for these children. MadagascarThere are seventy three projects in Madagascar. These involve building and improving schools, setting up clinics to provide medical treatment of children from poor areas and the care of orphaned children. MalawiMissionary Children supports four projects in Malawi. Thes include building classrooms for Linkhuwe primary school, helping to pay for medical treatment of children at St. John's Hospital and maintaining six clinics in rural areas. These projects help over thirty eight thousand children. MaliThere are nineteen projects which receive funding from Missionary Children in Mali. Some projects involve building and furnishing schools, helping children to attend schools and supplying educational equipment. Other projects involve building clinics and feeding centres for children in impoverished areas. MoroccoThere are fifteen projects in Morocco. Most of these involve providing food and medical help to children from poor families and caring for orphaned and abandoned children. There are also projects which support the education of poor children. MozambiqueSix projects in Mozambique are funded by Missionary Children. These projects give food and medical hep to poor children and care for AIDS orphans and abandoned children. NamibiaThere are seven projects in Namibia. They support schools and nurseries helping poor and orphaned children. Over one thousand, six hundred children are helped. NigerThe three projects in Niger help more than five thousand children by supporting schools in poor areas. NigeriaThere are sixty projects in Nigeria supporting schools and providing education for poor children, supporting clinics which supply medical care for children and caring for orphans and abandoned children. RwandaThere are twenty one projects in Rwanda helping over one hundred and twenty five thousand people. The projects support schools and help in the fight against AIDS, the biggest killer in Africa. SenegalMissionary Children supports twenty nine projects here. The projects build and maintain schools and nurseries, supply food and medicines to poor children and care for orphans. One project alone, in Dakar, helps over fifteen thousand people. Sierra LeoneFive projects here help build and maintain schools as well as supply educational materials. South AfricaThere are fifty projects in South Africa. AIDS is a major problem in South Africa. Many children are left without any adults to care for them and some projects are dedicated to caring for these orphans. Other projects aim to educate the people in how to avoid the spread of AIDS. More projects aim to stop the spread of diseases like tuberculosis. South Africa has many people who live in shanty towns and are prone to poor health. SudanSudan is in the grip of a civil war and thousands of innocent people are forced to leave their homes in areas such as Darfur. There are forty two projects in Sudan bringing medical help to poor displaced people and providing education to displaced children. The projects also attempt to care for child soldiers who are actively caught up in fighting. SwazilandMissionary Children supports five projects in Swaziland. They provide schooling in rural areas and help in the fight against AIDS. They help over four and a half thousand children. TanzaniaTwenty eight projects in Tanzania help over fifteen thousand children by building and maintaining schools, providing clinics and helping stop the spread of AIDS. TogoThe twenty three projects in Togo are mainly educational. They support the construction and maintenance of schools as well as the supply of school furniture. Other projects supply food and medicines in impoverished areas. These projects care for over four and a half thousand children. UgandaMany of the seventy eight projects in Uganda are concerned with the building and repair of schools damaged in the civil war. Other projects are involved in feeding malnourished children. Many of the projects care for orphaned or abandoned children. The fight against AIDS is a feature of many. ZambiaMany of the fifty eight projects in Zambia involve caring for orphans. AIDS has had a terrible effect on the population here and many children have no adults to look after them Our 2003 - 2004 project, St. Charles School is in the northern part of Zambia, feeding and caring for orphans. Many more projects provide education. ZimbabweFive projects in Zimbabwe, funded by Missionary Children, look after children, many of them AIDS orphans, in schools and clinics.
